We began our journey on the Little Lakes Valley trail, which initially presents a gentle and accessible terrain, accompanied by picturesque views of the Eastern Sierra. This section of the trail is a popular destination for families and groups, attracting a considerable number of visitors, including children and dogs. Consequently, those seeking solitude may find this area less than ideal. However, the crowds dissipate significantly as one progresses beyond the initial few miles.
On August 8, 2020, we successfully summited Mount Dade, finding snow gear unnecessary for the ascent. The Hourglass, a notable landmark, was covered in scree and talus. The accompanying photograph illustrates our climbing route, highlighting a small notch that proved passable, enabling us to circumvent snow patches during our descent.
