We tackled the Rae Lakes Loop on Sep 10, 2025, on a 3-night backpacking trip, and it's a great beginner trek. The trail is mostly flat and easy – just keep in mind your daily mileage goals. The scenery was decent, but it picked up big time between Rae Lakes and Glen Pass. The views from the top of Glen Pass were seriously breathtaking.
One thing to note: campsites aren't super well-marked, so do your research and GPS those spots ahead of time.
